Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory

Chocolate Nugget Candy Factory - A well known landmark in Washoe Valley, NV and home to the famous miner that keeps watch over the busy retail location, that was once the family home, is a favorite for locals and tourist alike. Ed Feraince, the current owner and 3rd generation expert candy maker spends most of his time at the factory location at the foothills of Virginia City making the quality hand-craft chocolates from secret recipes, known only to the family since 1936, with fresh ingredients and quality chocolate.

Originally from Ohio, he attended college at Akron University and joined the National Guard before returning to Reno in 1983 where he learned his skill in candy making from his father "Candyman Dan".  A successful entrepreneur in several industries along with an established insurance firm, he came home to take the company over from his brother in 2020.  Since then, Ed has set his sights on an additional location in Reno along with his recent opening in S. Lake Tahoe, CA.  He is also currectly negotiating with Goldbelly (The best gourmet mail order foods company) to distribute his famous thin and crisp Peanut Brittle nationwide.

Just in time for Valentine's Day, a unique program you won't want to miss!

Before coming to the Community Foundation in October 2018, Jamie worked for 9 years as marketing manager for the Reno Cabela's store.  He has received awards and accolades for his work, and has been a part of many noteworthy events and activities both in college athletics and in the corporate world.

At the Community Foundation, Jamie has been tasked with maintaining and building the Corporate Philanthropy Partners program, coordinating the family Estate Planning Series offered twice a year, and helping raise funds for the Village on Sage Street's 216-room campus for low and very low-income individuals.

Jamie will speak to us about how Foundation supports education, requests for grants supporting non-profits, and the administration of a variety of fund types to meet the goals and needs of our community givers.  Care, Connect, Engage -  three profound actions that define what the Community Foundation of Northern Nevada does.
