As wildland fires are making the news, Steve will explain how fire agencies respond to wildland fires, how they organize for longer term fires and terminologies used.
Steve has over 45 years of wildland fire experience starting as a seasonal firefighter, and advancing through the ranks to Incident Commander leading teams of professionals managing fires.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) provides critical support for abused and neglected children who are under the protection of the juvenile court.

On September 11, 2001, as the nation tried to make sense of the destruction in New York and the Washington DC area, local, state and federal assets were being mobilized to deal with the aftermath of the terrorist attacks.  One of the federal assets being dispatched early on that day was California Interagency Incident Management Team 3 under the leadership of Steve Gage, Deputy Chief of the Kern County Fire Department.  Chief Gage and his team were assigned to assist the National Urban Search and Rescue efforts at the Pentagon.  Club member, Steve Gage, will share with us the challenges they faced assisting with search, rescue and recovery efforts at the Pentagon Terrorist Attack in Washington, DC.
