We make countless decisions every day that affect ourselves, those around us, and all of society.  This presentation will explore general ethical guidelines and why making ethical decisions, even when difficult, leads to the most benefits for all involved.

Nevada Kids Foundation is a Children's Non-Profit that provides essential items and resources to the struggling youth in our community.  Their goal is to empower children to live a life with greater hope, freedom, and opportunities for a successful future.  Kallie will speak to us about creating environments and communities where every child has access to the tools they need to reach their full potential, with an extra focus on our under-served and rural areas.

Author of "All This Sitting Is Killing You", Therapist/Owner of Active Physical Therapy in Reno, Professor of Kinesiology at UNR, fitness enthusiast and golf lover, Dr. Parley will speak to us on why "All This Sitting Is Killing You," and how to survive and thrive in the modern age of sitting.

Cop28 UN Climate Change Conference in Dubai was the biggest of its kind.  Some 85,000 participants, including more than 150 Heads of State and Government, were among the representatives of national delegations, civil society, business, Indigenous Peoples, youth, philanthropy, and international organizations in attendance at the Conference from November 30 to December 13, 2023.  Dr. Karin Hilgersom, President, Truckee Meadows Community College, was a panelist, and will discuss the unique role that presidents and senior leadership at higher education institutions play to drive climate action.

Dennis' commitment to Rotary is to help all Rotarians and Clubs to be all they can be by maximizing good works in our communities.  Every project, donation, scholarship, and selfless kind act, is a beautiful song to the community.  Dennis believes that Rotarians make beautiful music in all we do, and encourages every Rotarian to sing our songs loudly, inviting those with Rotarian values to join us.

Paul Klein and Sean Gorin grew up in Sparks and attended Sparks Middle School and Reed High School.  Paul is a Lobbyist with Tri-Strategies Government Relations and Public Affairs and a father of three, and Sean works for UPS and is a father of four.  Paul and Sean will share their experiences in building homes and healing hearts in Cambodia, and fighting child trafficking.

Mike Hix will moderate an exciting and informative episode of "Meet Your Rotarians!"  Mike will interview 3 mystery Rotarians of this GREAT club who will share fascinating facts about their lives and professions that you won't want to miss!  This is always a popular program so be prepared to be impressed!

As CEO of Nevada Humane Society, Jerleen has the honor of leading a dedicated team of 120 employees who work tirelessly to implement data-driven decision-making, industry best practices and compassion to care for pets.  The Nevada Humane Society has united over 140,000 animals since 1932.  They offer nose-to-tail support to keep them happy and healthy so that every season can be Snuggle Season.

Diedrichsen Elementary was just recognized as having the highest growth rate in the WCSD on the Nevada Report Card.  Principal Ryan Doetch is excited to share the HUGE impact the Sparks Rotary donations has had on the student learning, culture and climate, and positive behaviors.  

The Downtown Reno Partnership is a 501(c)6 nonprofit business improvement district whose core purpose is to make downtown Reno a safer, cleaner, vibrant district for residents and visitors. Neoma will share what is being done to improve the quality of life in the district.

ARC Dome Strategies is built upon over two decades of public sector leadership in a diverse number of fields and policy areas.  They provide services for Government Relations, Leadership Development and Consulting, Strategic Planning and Assessment, Crisis Management and Communications, Partnership Development, and Writing and Editing.  Caleb and Jackie will speak to us about the Lithium Nevada project.

Richard will share with us pictures and stories about spectacular places around the world that he has visited.

Jamie Vaughn is a recent breast cancer survivor, who is a fierce advocate for other breast cancer patients and survivors.  She is the host of the "Test Those Breasts!"™ podcast where she holds important conversations with current patients, survivors, caregivers, therapists and medical provider champions, to provide much-needed education and support.  "Test Those Breasts, Inc."™ is a nonprofit that includes resources and education about the signs of breast cancer.  Jamie will share with us the importance of self exams, early detection, and self-advocacy using the "Know Your Lemons" curriculum.   October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Be Vigilant!

Carson Costa has always had a healthy fascination for the world and all its intricacies, and travel has been a central pillar in his life.  He graduated from UNR in 2018 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, and along the way was lucky enough to do a couple of foreign exchange programs, including Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) - a year-long immersive program.  Carson is co-president of ROTEX, a society of past Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) alumni who engage with current Inbounds and Outbounds to better their exchange experiences.  Carson will share with us his experiences, and how he sees ROTEX as potential future Rotarians - the next generation - who have first hand Rotary experience.

Tim Johnston, V.P. of Outreach for BBB serving Northern Nevada and Utah, will discuss ways to prevent falling for scams, fraud, and how important it is to use the BBB as a resource.

Past District Governor Dave Gallagher, (District 5220), will be telling us about the Romanian Hospital Equipment Project we will be supporting with a Rotary Global Grant, and learn more about what our Rotary Foundation does in the world.

Join President Paula as we tune-up our tools at this week's meeting!  We will have fun with Randy Rascati taking our club photo; a visit from a few special guests, and learn what our members have been up to this year!

Everyone deserves a place to call home.  Right now more than 100 million people around the world have lost their homes to disaster and conflict.  We are working to change this.  By providing emergency shelter, tools and household supplies to displaced families after disaster, we enable families to begin to rebuild and recover, transforming despair into hope.  Dave will tell us about the organization, and the life-saving shelters, essential tools and supplies, that will enable them to rebuild their homes and transform their lives after disaster.

It's a new year, and Dr. Anderson - cardiologist and past chief of staff at N. NV Sierra Medical Center, will discuss preventitive measures we can take to make it a happy and healthy one!  It's all about Diet, Nutrition, Prevention and Healthy Aging!  Her balanced apporach to life should be an inspiration to all of us.

Paul has had Scouting in his blood ever since his mom brought him to a Cub Scout meeting in West Palm Beach Florida where he grew up.
After college Paul realized he had decisions to make; either graduate school or some employment.
Through the advice of his employer at the time, Paul chose to join the Gulf Stream Council, Scouting America, in Palm Beach Gardens Florida.
Paul says "Scouting has impacted my life in many ways for the challenges that life brings.  I consider my role in Scouting as a calling for servant leadership.  As an Eagle Scout I have constantly used my skills, talents and abilities gained to help serve young people in my community."  Scouting is the difference!
Nevada Area council has 2032 youth participants and 696 adult volunteers.  Paul has served Scouting for over 34 years in 5 different councils, and is the 18th Scout Executive and CEO of the Nevada Area Council.

Sparks Rotary Board Meeting--all members are welcome

Susan is the "S" of D&S Tow.  She's a Hug High graduate, proud N. Nevadan since the 3rd grade, mother of 5 and Dodger fan!  With over 35 years in the automotive industry; running an auto body shop, a wrecking yard, an insurance salvage pool, an auction company and a used auto dealership, Susan has seen many changes in the industry.  Susan will talk to us about the State Regulating Organizations and how Nevada's Professional Towing Industry works with DMV, National Towing Association, NDOT, Nevada Highway Patrol and the State Legislature.
Susan says - "solving customers' problems, beyond their highest expectations, will constantly raise our Tow Bar!"

With a robust background in law enforcement, Major Munoz expertise in narcotic investigations, DUI investigations, and use of force events ensures that he approaches every situation with a well-rounded perspective. 
As the founder of the Nevada Highway Patrol Human Trafficking Unit, he is proud to lead a victim-centered and survivor-led initiative.  This unit is dedicated to addressing the complexities of human trafficking while prioritizing the needs and recovery of victims.
Major Munoz leadership style is rooted in servant leadership, fostering collaboration and empowering his team to achieve safer environments and highways for all.
