Nathan Chellman currently is working towards his Ph.D. in Hydrology at the Desert Research Institute (DRI) and the University of Nevada, Reno. Nathan went to high school in Reno before getting his undergrad degree in Biology/Geology at Brown University. After completing his undergrad, Nathan finished his Master’s in Hydrology at DRI and UNR in 2016. At DRI, Nathan works with Dr. Joe McConnell, whose lab group specializes in ice core, snow, and paleoclimate research. Nathan’s fieldwork has taken him from the Rocky Mountains to Greenland, studying ice core records of pollution and climate. His talk will give an overview of how ice cores from glaciers and ice sheets are collected and analyzed as well as what information is preserved in the ice.
