Author Mark Bacon will talk about the best selling mystery writers of all time and today, where mystery writers get their ideas, the importance of locales and more in his program this week.

Mark S. Bacon grew up in Southern California where he began his career as a newspaper reporter covering the police beat.  He later moved into advertising and marketing as a copywriter and later as a bank marketing director.

At the same time, he was writing nonfiction books on marketing and communications.  His best selling book, on direct marketing, was named a best business book of the year by the Library Journal, published in three editions and printed in four languages.

He has taught business writing and journalism at Cal Poly University, the University of Redlands, UNLV and most recently,  the University of Nevada.

His freelance articles have appeared in The Washington Post, The Kansas City Star, The San Antonio Express-News, BusinessWeek online and other publications.   He was a correspondent for The San Francisco Chronicle for four years.  He has a BA in journalism from Fresno State and an MA in mass communication from UNLV.

Over the past few years,  his writing career has taken a turn for murder.  He is the author of two collections of mystery short stories and his new book—his first novel—is  “Death in Nostalgia City,” published by Black Opal Books.

The murder mystery has become a fixture in American culture today, in books, on TV and in movies.  Mark Bacons’s talk is “Everything You Wanted to Know About Murder (Mysteries).”
